Is a video podcast a podcast? IMHO, yes. BUT… the show needs to be on RSS and be available for download on more platforms/apps than just YouTube.
If it’s just a YouTube video then let’s call it what it is… all together now… a YouTube video.
Nothing wrong with that, but it’s not a Podcast without an RSS feed.

I have to admit, I’m not a big fiction podcast listener, but I know a guy who’s an expert on fiction podcasts… wait for it… the one and only @evoterra@podvibes.co!

I recently moved my hosting to TrueFans.fm hosting. @samsethi@podcastindex.social is the CEO of TrueFans and a good buddy of mine. So I thought I’d give it a go.
What’s unique about TrueFans.fm’s hosting is that is based on bandwidth/streams not downloads.
And it’s variable pricing. So if you have a small show you only pay for the data you use. It’s quite brilliant if you ask me.
What’s even better is that it’s fully Podcasting 2.0 enabled. So all the cool tags that come with Podcasting 2.0.
The Podcast Mastery podcast is hosted there and I’m very pleased with it so far.

Loving the hosting options that @truefans@truefans.social brings to #Podcasting.
The idea of streams vs downloads and only paying for the amount of data that you use is really a neat concept.
For example, if you have a small podcast, after 3 months you might only have to pay a few bucks for hosting and when show grows, the hosting grows with you.
I don’t think any other platform does this.

I know… I know… Podcasting.Chat is only about 24 hr old. But being impatient, I’d love more podcasters to post in/to the forums.
I have content streaming in from relays and watched hashtags, I want this place to be a hub for podcasters across the Open Web.

I listen to a lot of podcasts. And some have ads. The ones that do it right, IMHO, are those who intro the show first, maybe have a clip or two about what’s coming up on the show, then segue into an ad spot in a creative way.
What isn’t a good idea is having more than 1 had at the start before the intro. I get having one pre-roll then getting into the content, but 3 or 4 is nuts. I’d like to see the drop off of listeners when there are so many pre-rolls before the show even starts.
Here’s my rule: 1 preroll, 1 or 2 midrolls (depending on length of the show), and a post-roll for network news or announcements.
