@dansup Youโre building way too many things at onceโฆ Loops only just hit the public, and then you were supposedly working on Sup, and now youโre doing something else? Like the passion is awesome but this feels like an infrastructural level of feature creep. Every project you (and anyone) have always has points of improvements, especially with only one primary developer, and youโre just chasing the next shiny thing. This isnโt focus or growth, this is a lack of clear goals.

@rolle @dansup While true, allowing yourself to neglect projects that youโve built in the past and are still not complete (because FOSS projects never areโฆ) AFTER theyโve had time to become a part of usersโ social infrastructure is a massive exercise in shirked responsibility. And lending a hand becomes less tenable when the maintainer who will ACCEPT those lended hands is spreading himself thin across multiple projects; one man can only approve so many PRs.

Thereโs been no word about organized teams and collective maintainers being deployed to any of his numerous projects, such that he could take on the role of โvision leadโ while well-capable programmers support the groundwork heโs laid. Delegation needs to happen when you scale this fast.

it seems rather rude to me to decide to tell someone what their priorities should be. it is true he's one person and there's a lot to do. so he needs help, he doesn't need a self-appointed boss. do you pay him? no. so he does whatever he wants. that's the way it should be

@dansup@mastodon.social you're a beast! It's incredible what you've been doing for the fediverse! Thank you! I love the fediverse but it still isn't very user friendly when you need to interact with other instances. For example, if I click on a link to your Mastodon profile and it is on a different instance than mine, the flow to follow you or favorite or retoot one of your posts isn't very intuitive. There is a lot of people asking for the creation of some web-based protocol handlers for ActivityPub but this proposal never gets attention... Maybe you're the man to make it real! But Danielโs established that his priority is to support the Fediverse by building strong platforms for it; vision dissonance takes time away from working on the software that thousands of Fedizens now depend on, which runs in contradiction to his OWN priorities. You canโt have your cake and eat it too.

Just a, "hey, this is cool, but please make sure you're still working on the base you've established for yourself."

@benroyce And while I'll certainly take your advice on trying to come off as less entitled to heart, I can't say that being called an "asswipe" inspires confidence in self-reflection. Nonetheless, the internet is great at making it super difficult to glean character from <400 character posts, and already provides too small a window frame to understanding one another at all. So, I'll be muting this thread, but if we interact further elsewhere, I'd take to more constructive criticism a bit better!
