@phillycodehound never say never. If Apple see money in them hills they might bend. Imagine using Apple Pay for subscriptions and streaming payments. Apple
Taking a cut would be their incentive. It might not be Bitcoin but it could be StableCoins -

@dave the more I read about Apples support for HLS the more I think it will be a cautious and limited. I suspect Live using HLS will be equally limited in scope.
TrueFans currently steams MP3 files in 6 sec packets like HLS but only in one bitrate 128k stereo. We have already tested streaming MP4 and will launch that next week but again only 720k. We will add 1080p/4K next but will make them a premium charge for users.
We already support HLS playback in our app and HLS in the Alt Enclosure.

This is a good overview on the upcoming video features in Apple Podcasts. It's very disappointing how Apple is handling this and if their goal is to break the YouTube video podcast monopoly then this might be exactly the wrong way for that. Instead they try to route around RSS. Ugh.
