@js lol... I love how they put the microphones on the desk to kind of give it some authenticity. It would have been funny if the mics weren't plugged into anything being CNN and all...

‘Finally, the first phase of transcripts in Overcast!@theDanielJLewis @js I see your point, but I think the 'legal liability' concern might be a bit of a stretch in practice. Think of it more as a real-time translation tool. If I use a browser to translate a foreign website, the browser isn't 'liable' for a mistranslation—it's just an assistive tool helping me parse the data. As long as the intentions are good and it's clear the text is AI-generated, I don't see it as a massive failure unless the meaning is fundamentally sabotaged.

‘Finally, the first phase of transcripts in Overcast!@theDanielJLewis @js from reading his Reddit post, it sounds like he's using the phone itself to perform the transcription. Which is a smart move given the fact that phones today are powered enough to handle such a task on demand.

@adam what is/are the advantages of setting up my own mastodon server vs just posting on others such as yours?@adam do you host your server yourself or do you use a third party service like Masto.host or SpaceBear? And if you do host it, do you have to manage it? And how much time do you spend managing it if you do?

I use to operate a podcast ranking site in 2018 before shutting it down.A surprising find... and something to take note was that 85% of the database was built purely by gathering ranking for each storefront (country) in each genre.
Kind of says something when 85% of the database is ranking at least 200 in some genre in some country. Makes me ask the question of what is ranking and is it really relevant... It reminds me of giving every child on the soccer team a trophy for just participating.

I use to operate a podcast ranking site in 2018 before shutting it down.I estimate that with the bulk blind lookups and keyword searches I should be able to locate an additional 500k or more podcasts over the next few weeks.
I was quite surprised at how easy and fast it was to build a new database from the ground up.
I was also quite surprised that I was able to do all of the work within a Microsoft SQL Server Studio with no programming other than T-SQL scripts.

At the time my database consisted of 99% of all podcasts in iTunes. I was curious on restarting it from scratch (0 entries) using just a simple keyword search on the word business, pulling ranking, performing keyword searches, and performing bulk blind lookups. Using just the iTunes API and MS-SQL Sever I have been able to build a database of 2,789,106 entries in just under 24 hours. No programs, just pure MS T-SQL scripts.

I was considering setting one up, but I'm not quite sure why I should...

Can I suggest a new tag for podcast index specifically for business, finance, self-help, and entrepreneur podcasts.@dave yeah I can see what you're saying... Pretty much every podcast in those categories would be marked true.

Just a simple tag that indicates whether it is a contrepreneur format. True or False value.
Does anybody remember the old service Klout that existed about 10 years ago or so... That was actually a pretty good concept.

‘But to adopt HLS video in Apple Podcasts feels like a turn away from the kind of podcasting I’ve loved for 20+ years. -
‘We invested $15,000 per episode for production and promotion of a pilot series of four episodes as an opportunity to grow the military and veteran audience and connect them to our advanced aerospace and defense and energy sectors.@js I would love to see a breakdown of how that money was spent.

(brutal truth)@adam @theDanielJLewis @csb oh the, this won't stay free forever is already starting to happen... I upgraded my Google workspace account just so I could get the new added skills for their AI studio just to find out that they've removed them and moved them up to Enterprise level pricing.

"It takes full advantage of podcasting 2.0 to give the richest possible experience one can get from an RSS feed.@dave LOL! I worked for a startup that did this exact same thing about 6 years ago and was acquired by Spotify. Spotify currently holds the patents on the technology.

@adam @dave I keep trying to remind people that the bigger concerns about disclosing things are:@dave @theDanielJLewis @adam yes. The problem that arises is the same concept of making a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a VHS tape. Every time you make a copy it deteriorates. Ultimately you get junk!

(brutal truth)@theDanielJLewis @adam @csb I was quite impressed with openrouter.ai ability to handle an openclaw workload. I used it quite extensively one day and put in well over 500 requests in over 6 million token usage just in an afternoon. Got no cost. The problem I did run into was as I hit those higher usage. The response time seemed to start to slow down as they were throttling me. The other thing that I found quite alarming was the increasing context window from openclaw.
