(time to tell bye bye to Claude as token provider for my OpenClaw, or anybody knows even cheaper LLM API?)

Claude Opus 4.6 charges $5/$25. That's 33× cheaper on input and 20× cheaper on output [than MiniMax API]

Openclaw creator hired by OpenAi = makers of ChatGPT:

now if only OpenAI would offer flat rate Openclaw hosting, it would be helpful

because main weakness of Openclaw is being token muncher = costing too much money used on LLM API calls

I recognize that OpenClaw is not yet secured so I run it only when I test it not whole time.

Later when I am more comfortable about security and I will switch from Claude opus 4.6 to MiniMax 2.5

Ryan you speak about something you did not try yourself so you’re wrong. Please try it yourself first before you speak.

Openclaw can be secured with command “openclaw doctor --deep --yes” and other tricks.

But main weakness being LLM stays: unless one owns expensive Nvidia card, purchasing LLM API is necessary.

yez, that’s true actually, and indeed main weak link of OpenClaw

My plan is to test it first on Claude opus 4.6 model (price: $5 for million input tokens)

and then to switch to cheap Chyna model MiniMax 2.5 (price: $0.3 for million input tokens)

I am installing now #openclaw 2nd time in my life, on Ubuntu Linux server in data center in Poland owned by French company OVH - see https://ovhcloud.com .

and it's brilliant:

-- prices slightly higher than cheap Linux hosting but data center in Poland

-- I use cloud hosting not VPS, so it's an instance on OpenStack-compatible cloud

-- it feels good to use cloud that is based on open source standard = OpenStack not proprietary
