@dave I use podping in the new Podfriend, and it works great.

Should I consider using the gossip-listener? Do I understand it correct that it's "like" podping (well, basically podping) but p2p?

As far as I'm concerned, it's Podping just on an additional messaging layer.

I have yet to get my hands on any of it due to more important obligations, although Dave and I talked through the implementation quite a bit.

Personally, when I can get some time to work on it, I am going to try to add both gossip listener and writer to podpingd which will watch both Hive (which it already does) and gossip.

I can't speak for Dave, but I think this experiment exists in this state in the event of an immediate Hive disaster.

@alecksgates @dave Yeah, and while I don't care about infrastructure, then I am all for having a "Plan B", so I would like to use it (but I'll wait until Dave says it's stable enough for production-ish).

@martin @alecksgates Yes to all of what Alecks said. Building now for plan b and It's almost at a point where I would call it stable. After we get to that point, I'll go back and do a thorough refactor as I move all the parts to real repos where they (the gossip listener and writer) will live going forward.
