It's great but you can't boost it directly ala AP. I see AP as the successor to RSS. I'd like to see people using AP instead of RSS for podcasts. Still decentralized but it would make it possible for the actual episode, not just lots of different links to it, to go viral. With all the comments attached.

yes but that doesn't change the news environment. and everyone getting their news from only them would also not be healthy. that's still a kind of concentration where top level people have a bias and can be misinformed at times. we need their funding model but spread over the entire journalism landscape, where we get to decide what's most important together. the MAGA perspective grows cause it plays to our tabloid impulses, where the algo spreads anything we pause on.

maybe more Brave New World. the shitty system wins by being entertaining. the algo figures out what triggers us and they flood us with it. the problem is we've always not just cared about quality stuff but also conspiracies, people fighting and celebrities.

@dave Would you consider the hosted API itself to be a critical element of what the index is doing for the community? One could make the case that the open-source code for anyone to run it themselves is the better use of your time than maintaining a free service for people who’re never going to appreciate the v4v model.
Imagine if the API had trial-sized rate limits, then flipped into a pay-what-you-want model powered by L402/x402
