I lasted as long as I could without updating my main Mac to Tahoe.

But now that the latest Xcode beta requires it, I'm ceding defeat.

@marcoarment I upgraded a few weeks ago, and I feel like it’s made my MBPM1P marginally slower, and I turned off transparency, and it’s… functional. I get my work done without issues.

iOS26 on my iPhone 14, OTOH… that is noticeably slower 😞

@marcoarment I turned off transparency, I’ve reduced motion, now if I could just get rid of the Fisher Price corners on all the things

A sneak peek at a techy thing: how Apple Podcasts HLS streams work.

Some may/will have better information than I do here; but I’m publishing this later today, and would, of course, welcome any feedback of the things I’ve got wrong. Feel free to quietly do that via email if it helps - editor@podnews.net will find me.

Of note - advertisers *can* require their ads not to be skippable, according to the spec. But we don't know whether Apple Podcasts is going to honour that.

What are the tech details of how Apple Podcasts new HLS video works? Here's what we know so far.

Codex 5.2 says it's bad at handling delimiter heavy code. Apparently it's not just my imagination.

This is interesting. I almost exclusively work with Node/JS/Typescript, and haven't run into this type of limitation with LLM before.

Since closing brackets tend to happen inline in Clojure, it's harder for the LLM to predict how many are needed.

If brackets are not handled inline, and uses linebreaks and indents, it might be able to write it more reliably...but I'm not having luck with rewrite

I've been using LLM to make some edits to BoostBox for local testing, it's written in Clojure (I don't know how to write Clojure) and I keep running into syntax errors. LLM seems to have a hard time with the closing parentheses and braces.

Is this a familiar issue for anyone? Is there a skill I should be using, or something?
