@jbz Just gonna put this out there for anyone happening by who's in the Discord Diaspora:
* Just like Mastodon, Matrix has federated homeservers, and you should not create your account on the main one unless you want your access to be contingent on yet another corpo-landlord's grace
* If you choose to run your own homeserver, be aware that Synapse is a pain in the ass to operate, even for pros, so you might want to look into Continuwuity, which is less featureful but simple.jbz (@jbz@indieweb.social)
