I show every podcast using this standard at https://hls.livewire.io and will be keeping an extra keen eye on it

@js Is HLS video support significant as a competition against the proprietary YouTube โ€œpodcastsโ€ ? Or for other reasons?

@js Do you think if creators adopt this more it would spur other host providers to, or does adoption need to start at the hosts?

@js Well spotted ๐Ÿ˜ Last week we soft launched alternate enclosure support (no hostingโ€ฆ yet).
We were about to announce it yesterday, but Apple basically nuked the timeline with theirs, so we will wait a couple of days ๐Ÿ˜‚
The show you found is one of our international award-winning podcasts experimenting with HLS video and OPUS via alternate enclosure: https://validator.livewire.io/?validate=https://media.rss.com/focaterra/feed.xml

@AvonVilla @caity we went to a religious wedding a couple of weekends ago. I think husband and I were the token atheists.

@caity In recent years (well, this century, anyway) I had an openly Catholic work colleague. Somehow we managed to retain a sense of shared cultural heritage, even after I told him, on just one occasion, I now believe that the entire Catholic religion is atrocious and should, ideally, be abandoned. Later he showed up with the ashes prominently marking his forehead at the start of Lent and we had another friendly chat about shared religious rituals of my past and his present. I didn't bother with the atheist rant. Social cohesion was in place.

I had also had an Anglican colleague who appreciated my ex-Catholic atheism because he considered it a point for team protestant, which was actually slightly galling. I took that as permission to be a bit more of an arsehole atheist and more freely say to him what I really think about the whole cursed death cult of Christianity.

@js Yeah, I don't know. Chatting with them, Apple seems quite happy for additional podcast hosts to sign up, who wouldn't do any dynamic ads (and therefore this would end up being "free", over and above any bandwidth charges). They just prioritised ones they might get some money out of.
