Overcast.fm is doing transcripts for everyone. And racks of Mac Minis. My God, how the heck is he doing this for free?
Must be nice to have $$$ to spend like this.
It’s probably a great way for Overcast.fm to get more users. I know I’m intrigued by it.
Though, I’m firmly planted in the TrueFans.fm ecosystem with an occasional jaunt to Pocket Casts from time to time.

The more I think about this, I think transcripts should be at the hosting level or the podcaster level, not at the app level.
Thoughts?
@phillycodehound I would agree. Not so much as the quality of the actual transcript may be better, but that the podcaster has more control over things such as speaker names, which then ties in nicely with the person tag.

@dave Would you consider the hosted API itself to be a critical element of what the index is doing for the community? One could make the case that the open-source code for anyone to run it themselves is the better use of your time than maintaining a free service for people who’re never going to appreciate the v4v model.
Imagine if the API had trial-sized rate limits, then flipped into a pay-what-you-want model powered by L402/x402
