@shom hot take: XP sucked. People only remember it fondly because it was their first experience with the NT kernel instead of the 9x environment.
Windows 2000 was excellent, XP was dogshit that slowly got better with service packs, 7 and ten were excellent. (All ratings expressed on a Windows relevant scale of course.)

@jimsalter you're absolutely right, I went from 98b to XP and it was just such a relief and it was colorful with the iconic wallpaper, I was in college so I have generally fond memories of that era. Windows 10 with all the advertising tiles/ads nonsense blocked, add in some PowerToys niceties in there, with WSL2 for a proper terminal (as a full-time Linux user at home) was peak windows experience at work.

@mitch @francosolerio Yeah, I burnt myself out completely too, as well as new jobs etc.
I'm finally at a place where I have the time to take Podfriend forward a bit. Of course I did that thing that everyone says you shouldn't do - start over
- but since I still have access to all the old code, and can give LLMs access to it, it's relatively easy to do.
