This is one of the pictures the ACT cops confiscated when they shut down a gig at Dissent bar in Canberra last night. Obviously you should not share it.

@luciedigitalni I'm just boosting to, you know, make sure everyone knows not to share this.

@emmadavidson @luciedigitalni It's worse that that tho. This is clearly politcal speech which is protected by the constitution.
It would be good if politicians could put that point to whichever court will be hearing the case. We need upstanding politicans now more than ever, lest we end up like the regime that's being critised.
Perhaps you could rally some of your fellow MP's to this mans defense??
#auspol@Bot4Sale @emmadavidson @luciedigitalni I'm not sure the Constitution protects any speech, political or otherwise. I could be wrong.
I believe there is long-standing legal precedent that there is a limited implied freedom of speech, though.

@kauer @Bot4Sale @emmadavidson @luciedigitalni yes it's an inferred right, the only only the courts have agreed on

@kauer @emmadavidson @luciedigitalni (1/2) No expert here and you're right that there is a court decision which rendered an implied freedom of political speech based on interpretation of how several sections of the constitution are worded.

@kauer @emmadavidson @luciedigitalni (2/2) So while not directly stating we have freedom of political speech, the interpretation that the people choose the government implies we need to be able to speak freely about politics in order to carry out this function. Anyway it's long overdue that Australian's had some explicit rights set out in law something akin to a Bill of Rights.
-
@luciedigitalni obviously, free speech absolutism is no longer the trend.

@luciedigitalni Of course, nobody is suggesting you take advantage of a free download of the original artwork.
No one. No one at all.

@luciedigitalni It's always surprising what the fuck is going on in Australia. Laughable nation state.

@luciedigitalni Since the picture lacks both a nazi salute and a small black moustache, it seems pretty mild to me.

@luciedigitalni Well, all the posters seem to be nicely correct I think.....
-
@luciedigitalni and there it is:
“The posters do appear to show swastikas and other Nazi symbols on the uniforms, but some pro-Israeli government groups have argued that depicting Jews in Nazi regalia is anti-Semitic, and one of the posters portrays the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a Nazi uniform.”
@cthon1c @luciedigitalni Oh, right. Why didn’t they confiscate just that one poster then, but take the others too?
-
@luciedigitalni Thank you.
-
@luciedigitalni damn, figures acab means australian cops are bastards too
@caitp @luciedigitalni I guess that’s a corollary that naturally derives from “all.”

@Bot4Sale @kauer @emmadavidson @luciedigitalni Probably the best idea from the US Constitution. Even that failed miserably to explicitly protect some obvious ones, like privacy.

@xChaos @luciedigitalni That was always a lie.
