      The Restickering

It’s been almost two years since I got my updated work-issued 14″ M3 MacBook Pro and yesterday it was time to finally get around to putting stickers on it.

I was inspired because our son was looking through his sticker collection and selecting some to place on his own laptop.

A variety of colorful stickers, many of them AWS related, arranged on the lid of a space grey MacBook Pro. The Apple logo in the middle is still visible. The full description key is in the next image.

Compared to my previous 16″ MacBook Pro, there’s a little less real estate but more unique and smaller stickers. I included a lot of the same themes, including some duplicates I used previously. Subconsciously it seems I at least put those mostly in different locations! I also tried to adhere a little less to a grid, doing more angles.

The full key explaining what all of these stickers are:

The same image as above but in black and white, with red numbers on each sticker, roughly left to right and top down. More details are in the body text of the post but here are descriptions:

1. A black rectangular sticker in a heavy metal band style of a bird like creature under the word Highline
2. A shield shaped sticker of a koala in a shirt with earbuds in. The text above reads "Don't bother me I'm listening to a podcast" with the O in podcast replaced with the Radiotopia record logo
3. A large irregular vintage script sticker in red white and blue that reads "Let's Roll" with a D20 on 20 in the lower right.
4. Top: a hammer hitting a nail labeled "nailed it". Middle: the word "innovator" in white on blue. Right: the word Awesomeness in red on white.
5. Pixelated outline of a classic all in one Mac in black and white
6. On an angle the text "AWS Security Hub" with logo of a shield and six surrounding connected circles.
7. A detailed large irregular sticker of a glossy cartoon blue bird with friendly face
8. An escutcheon that reads "Mechanic" across the top and has various technical icons and the Amazon smile in each
9. A small green round sticker with a raining umbrella logo and the text around the edges twice "adventure awaits"
10. A round saucer sticker of a mug of hot coffee viewed from above with the AWS smile logo floating in it
11. The USENIX 50th anniversary logo that says "since 1975". The USENIX U forms the open space of the 0.
12. A round pink and purple sticker of the Datadog logo with edge text "I rode the slide!" and "AWS re:Invent 2024"
13. Vintage NASA meatball logo in red and blue
14. A sort of offset double trapezoid Bambu Labs logo in grey and green; the upper left says "Bambu Labs" and the lower right says "let's make it"
15. A tiny sneaker in green, facing to the right.
16. A large black oval sticker that reads in white text with a red star "Easy Street Records Seattle USA"
17. An irregular sticker of text around a small green open laptop that reads "Bring your Kids to work day". The words "to work" are inside the screen.
18. A small orange D20 sticker, also showing 20
19. A foil sticker with star edges of a retro cartoon dancing book inside the text "Let's check out the library". Below it is the URL and above it is a tiny SPL logo.
20. A small white rectangular sticker that had the Amazon smile logo, a vertical bar, and the word science.
21. A large square sticker that reads "Eat Like You Give A Damn" in white on black with the brand URL herbivore clothing.com on the bottomOnce again honoring Highline Bar, a favorite long-closed vegan takeout destination. Their menu still lives on at Georgetown Liquor Company. This is my last sticker from there.Another Radiotopia podcast network sticker from the same PodCon set.Let’s Roll sticker featuring a D20 designed by someone going by Captain Har Har.One of the things that got us through pandemic summers when he was younger were the KiwiCo Crates. At some point they sent a sticker sheet, I think for his birthday? I snagged “Nailed It”, “Innovator”, and “Awesomeness” because I had some extra space for smaller stickers and I like the message.Repeating the pixelated classic Mac icon for Hypercritical, my entry point into the world of podcasts courtesy of John Siracusa. The logo for Security Hub, the AWS service I switched to working on in 2024, and continue to work on today.Ollie, the blue bird mascot of Twitterrific, which was my favorite Twitter client before Elon killed the site.An Amazon tool called Mechanic. Probably got this at DevCon last year?My every day wear shoe is the waterproof Vessi Weekend, so I have some of their stickers for Seattle’s rain and the outline of the shoe.AWS coffee sticker, not sure where I got this one at work.Last year I attended USENIX Security and got this 50th anniversary sticker with my badge. At re:Invent 2024 I rode the Datadog slide and got this sticker. I guess I didn’t post a picture from that?NASA “meatball” logo which came on a set of stickers at the Artemis booth at PAX last fall.A Bambu Labs logo sticker that came with our 3D printer. One last vegan sticker from a favorite clothing and accessories brand, Herbivore, which sadly shut down in 2023. I had hoped they’d still dropship some of their designs.Last year we bought more vinyl than we probably should have, mostly via Seattle-local Easy Street Records. Sometimes they throw a sticker in with your preorder.Last year Amazon brought back Bring Your Kids to Work Day.Still have a ton of colored D20 stickers from Storymakers Trading Company that were a Kickstarter bonus. We’ve long supported the Seattle Public Library and we love libraries! I like their foil sticker design.A random Amazon Science program sticker I found somewhere at work.It wouldn’t be an Amazon laptop without Rufus (even if he’s more the retail side than AWS).

I still have probably too many stickers in the archive, but they can go on the next device in a few years!
