At this point when I get a white supremacist reply on the fediverse - which is often - I just block the whole instance domain.

@ben While it is important individuals control and personalize their information flow, applying this approach at the instance level fragments the network, penalizes users who have not violated rules, incentivizes closed or invite-only servers, and marginalizes international instances that are not steeped in the same Eurocentric cultural context.

@quattrocchi I don't think white supremacy is down to a Eurocentric cultural context; racism is racism, and white supremacists tend to carry a bunch of other fascist baggage with them.
The fediverse is meant to be fragmented - it's in the protocol. Folks on instances with fascists are either ok with fascism or fascists themselves; either way, I don't feel the need to maintain a connection.

Do what you need to do, of course, but it's not always the fault of the instance. The admins can't catch every post instantly or predict the behaviour of every new user.

Or are not yet aware of said assholes sharing a server which is the point being made above.Absolutely do what you need to, thatβs fediβs key strength, but letβs not default to tarring a whole bunch of people without the full story.
There definitely are servers that knowingly permit this. There are also those who bring the ban-hammer but can only do so when aware.
