Maybe not this fast, but certainly the pace will accelorate as AI gets better and better at improving itself. Its likely to be quite disruptive. But, never underestimate the ability of the human race to adapt. -

yes, but if you assume that it's self modifications are improvements, then it's ability to improve itself will increase exponentially over time. But I think it's likely that there will be misfires, so it may take a bit longer than some of the projections. -
